It's midnight sale in all the major malls and it's driving my pocket crazy! All the fast splurge are driving me to guilts as I am trying hard to save as so I could stand equal when my family visit mid-July. Having to see my my parents and aunt shop away is not a good feeling when I can't be in the same rhythm with them. So after my Kenneth Cole's low pump purchase last night at Central World, I dare not spend my moola on anything else anymore until my pocket is being reloaded again. Help me to mean it for I have enough of teasers from Hobbit about that (inside joke) made-from-Brazil being kept nicely inside the box thingy! Even if you bribe me with outer banks rentals, trust me it won't work...
Those of you who are visiting and plan to shop, go for the midnight sale at Emporium, Siam Discovery, Siam Paragon, all the Centrals and The Malls because the hi-so stuff are close to dirt cheap. :)

It took less than 3 minutes for the agar to clump
and we waited like forever for the first attempt! Chi-lar-kha!
We were trying to grow bacteria in class today. It was however impossible without plates of agar to swab on to. So we prepared by boiling water and added agar to it. We had groups of students pour their own agar into their petri dishes.
What happened after the agar had cooled off? It was still very much liquid instead of jelly. So we took on into the second attempt on making some more agar. Still the agar didn't turn as it was supposed to be. By this time it was almost close to lunch time and students were about to go.
With promising voice I talked my students into the idea that the agar should be left alone until the next day in order for them to do the swab.
Hoho! Good thing kids have no idea of how fast agar in a petri dish cools off and hardened... *evil smile*
...because right after lunch I quickly ran up to the lab and threw off everything done previously and redo the agars on the students' petri dishes again. Hah! Truly evil me!
I just love anything green tea flavor. From the freshly brewed to the fraps and puddings, I ingest them all.
An Emporium frequent like me, I was really thrilled when Chaho Green Tea finally housed themselves in my territory. Ping Golf! Now that Starbucks is freaking expensive, I can no longer afford green tea frappuccino! Fine if I am the only fan but that flabering hobbit likes it too!
So we really need an alternative! So far we have found one with flaws in portion amount, then another one no different to what we pay for Starbucks.
One day Hobbit and I were walking down from the food hall and noticed trays of mini taster cups sitting on a counter waiting for passersby to have a taste. I thought "ah, green tea!" We quickly sampled all there was to be sampled and found ourselves liking it and happily took home a Chaho GT milk slurpy (85B).
The first thing I noticed was the blended ice. It was rough-smooth and felt good when left alone to melt inside your mouth. So after a few days we went back and tried the Chaho Green Tea slurpy (75B) without the milk. Remarkable! Since then we have been slurping between the milk mix and the normal blended tea. Then a few days back I decided to try the CGT milk jelly and found nothing special to it. Just jelly added and ice is not blended. Then I tasted the variety of cakes and puddings and guess what? The Matcha GT puddings (45B) were toothsome!
Today we decided to again chill at Chaho and dated on the normal CGT slurpy and Chaho cheese cake (60B). It's a three layered cake. The first layer was red beans followed by green tea pudding and the last layer was crunchy-mixed cheese. It was indeed yummy!
I am now slowly converting to Chaho. Since there is still a lot on the menu, I still have a lot to explore and learn about. Not to take it seriously like reading religion, but to slowly savor each green tea formula while this body enjoys all the health benefits that comes with the green.

I was browsing the net for some creative ideas on home decor today and guess what? I found some cutey-cute baby beddings! My favorite one is called Wabi Sabi and it costs $307.99! No, no, no...I'm not close to motherhood yet but I just love the color combination and the materials that go with the set. Realistically, it is hard to find good baby bedding this part of the world (complains from mother-friends) and some of my mommy buddies rather have a good second hand ones than go brand new. It's also expensive and thinking that their child would soon outgrow the bed which is definitely true.

Good thing is, mommies always make decisions! Well, I remember having a striking yellow dress my parents bought me when I was little. It had itchy knitted patterns on its skirt and I appeared on that dress in several of my childhood pictures. Later in life I thought it was really really ugly but I guess I have no idea about fashion during those years and went with whatever my parents (bless them) picked. LOL!

WASHINGTON - Baltimore neurosurgeon Benjamin S. Carson said he was "humbled" when President Bush draped the nation's highest civilian award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, around his neck yesterday.
But such accolades are routine for the doctor who persevered through a childhood of poverty and urban violence to become the youngest department head at Johns Hopkins Hospital and a benefactor distributing thousands of scholarship dollars each year.
Four months ago, Carson was at the White House to receive a Ford's Theatre Lincoln Medal, awarded to individuals who exemplify the spirit of the 16th president. Last month, Hopkins announced an endowed professorship that will link Carson's name with the university's. "I'm still coming down off of that," he said.
There is undeniable cachet, however, in an award created during the administration of President John F. Kennedy to recognize lifetime achievement and distributed sparingly enough that its value persists.
"I was just very grateful that people are starting to recognize some of the work I am trying to do," Carson, 56, said in an interview after the ceremony, referring to his promotion of reading programs and college education for at-risk high school students. He called high school dropout rates an "epidemic" and said, "Sometimes I feel people aren't paying attention."
Born in Detroit to a barely literate mother who married at age 13 and soon left her husband to raise two sons alone, Carson overcame what he has described as a temper problem as a teen and went on to attend Yale University and the University of Michigan medical school. He gained fame as a pediatric neurosurgeon for, among other things, leading the separations of five sets of twins conjoined at the head between 1987 and 2004. He is also skilled in hemispherectomies, a procedure to remove half the brain to prevent seizures.
3,400 scholarships
The Carson Scholars Fund, founded with his wife, Candy, has given more than 3,400 scholarships to high school students over the past 14 years.
Carson's mother, Sonya, was in the audience at the White House ceremony, and Bush singled her out as he summed up the doctor's life to an invited audience of several hundred.
The president praised her doggedness in ensuring that her children took their education seriously.
'Forces of nature'
"Some moms are simply forces of nature who never take no for an answer," Bush said. "I understand," he added, drawing laughter for the allusion to his own mother.
"Every week the boys would have to check out library books and write reports on them," Bush said. "She would hand them back with check marks, as though she had reviewed them - never letting on that she couldn't read them."
When Bush said, "Welcome to the White House," Sonya Carson stood and waved to a round of applause in the East Room, where she sat near Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, former Sen. Bob Dole and the actor Cuba Gooding Jr. - who will portray Carson in an upcoming film.
A false start
Bush read a detailed account of Carson's life and achievements, and the doctor took a few steps forward to receive the medal. However, he was supposed to wait for the president to talk about the five other winners.
The premature timing drew a good-natured rebuke from Bush, who looked Carson back to his seat near a large portrait of Martha Washington and chided: "The bestowing part will take place a little later, Ben."
Upon completion of the six introductions and the formal reading of a citation by a military officer, Bush smiled broadly at Carson and summoned him closer, so he could clasp a blue ribbon bearing the medal around the doctor's neck.
Carson joins a notable list of Medal of Freedom winners in the medical field, including Dr. Jonas Salk, who developed a vaccine for polio, and Dr. Denton Cooley, who received his surgical training at Hopkins and in 1968 performed the first heart transplant. Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the top AIDS research official at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, was also honored yesterday.
Others in the latest group of Medal of Freedom recipients include retired Marine Gen. Peter Pace, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Donna E. Shalala, president of the University of MiamiTom Lantos of California, the only Holocaust survivor to serve in Congress.
Carson is "such a role model," said Maryland Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger, who attended the ceremony.
The White House visit gave Carson a chance to chat privately with Bush about nonmedical topics, including offshore oil exploration. Carson said he told Bush, a former oilman, that it would be difficult to convince the public that drilling has become more environmentally sound today than it was 30 years ago.
"He said, 'You are absolutely right,'" Carson said.

My father aka daddy has been nagging me about my past love. "Are you still practicing your piano?" Arrrgggh! Don't he get it that I HAVE NO PIANO let alone KEYBOARD here? I told him that and he said "So all the practices before and the bla bla bla has gone to waste!" TO WASTE?? Oh well, too bad then. Every time on MSN whenever he is on, we will have this subject again and again. Oh goodness...somebody please tutor me for free!! Since my holiday started last week my mornings have slightly changed into a different start. Despite of having to get up the same time (as working days) early in the morning, my waking up early now means to chauffeur my Hobbit to school. At first I thought it was useless for I could use off the time to pay my sleep check but seeing a different angle of Bangkok in the morning is not something I get to do every working days. My Hobbit's work place is slightly close to the heart of the city and the road to his work place is really a pleasant drive in the morning. I get to see the city waking up in a different angle rather than concentrate on my lipstick at the mirror like every working days.
So after dropping Hobbit off today, I drove to Jusco to shop some groceries and was thrilled to find out that most of the vegetables and fruits on the refrigerator display are freshly packed! I thought I spent almost an hour partly window shopping. The atmosphere is unlike the noisy, crowded evenings, a time we used to visit after work.
One thing everyone (should) know(s) about Bangkok traffic is that "The earlier, the better!" If work starts at 6:30am for you and you live about 3km away, you might want to get out as early as 6:00-6:10am. Otherwise the traffic spare you no mercy no matter how hard you try to squeeze your car's butt around. The roads don't cater cars alone but motorbikes, tuk-tuks, road sweepers (they dangerously risk to sweep), hawker's cart, bicycles, and the million limbs around. By the time I got out of the supermarket, cars were already lining up all the way! But hey, I don't get to listen to the morning radio programs all the time do I?
As predicted, internet is going to end in year 2012. I read this bunch of information in Myst3's blog. Regardless whether it is true or not, listen to what they have to say, judge accordingly and act by what your good instinct tells you to. There is no harm in helping them spread the word because at the end we ain't loosing anything.
06/01/2008 - Every significant Internet provider around the globe is currently in talks with access and content providers to transform the internet into a television-like medium: no more freedom, you pay for a small commercial package of sites you can visit and you'll have to pay for seperate subscriptions for every site that's not in the package.
Almost all smaller websites/services will disappear over time and multinationals who are used to using big budgets to brute force their content into every media outlet will finally be able to approach the internet in the same way.

What can we do?
Internet providers have realized that the only way to not lose massive amounts of customers over this is to make sure there are no alternatives, that's why all major Internet providers are currently making agreements and planning to switch simultaneously somewhere in the year 2012. This is currently all going on under very strict NDA's (Non-Disclosure Agreements) because the last thing they want is the masses speaking out against it.
We were able to uncover this information because we have been well-known net neutrality activists for longer than a year now and over time have we've gotten in contact with many high-profile industry insiders. We will continue our activism and the I Power website serves as a platform for joining forces, sharing ideas and spreading awareness.
It's our responsibility to spread the word, use any sort of political or media contacts you may know. The more awareness there is, the more impossible it'll be for Internet providers to make this switch. Let's make sure that by 2012, ISP's won't even dare think about doing anything that goes against the principles of net neutrality.

Net neutrality has been a much debated issue for several years now and there have been many lawsuits in cases where an Internet provider blocked access to a certain competitor's site or simply crippled download speeds on services that they felt were using up too much of their bandwidth. But this new information that has now been confirmed by inside sources from major ISP's and content providers gives us a far bleaker vision of what the future of Internet freedom will look like if we don't take action in every way we can.
Why is this happening? The entire media and marketing industry is losing its grip on the upcoming generations of Internet-minded consumers. Statistics show that traditional media is losing popularity as the Internet continues to grow drastically every year. And the Internet is a completely different place: consumers aren't passive any more and advertisements don't have the same psychological effect they normally have on television. Internet users are very active and focused: they only go to the sites and services they want, and with an infinite amount of alternatives, users simply switch to something else if one service becomes too commercialized with annoying advertisements.With this in mind, it's no surprise that the past 6 years the industry has secretly been planning a 'take-over' to secure the Internet as a purely commercial playground.

But there is hope... More and more people are becoming aware of the importance of net neutrality and now that we have uncovered what the industries have been plotting, it's not just about big corporations forming shady agreements, it's about what they will say to their users who will demand an explanation from their providers on what will happen to their access in 2012. As long as there are alternatives, we can pressure those providers who admit to being against net neutrality and favor those who take a stand and choose to give their users their freedom even after 2012. We can keep pushing for net neutrality laws and we can start spreading awareness on a massive scale to make sure that ISP's think twice before signing anything that'll go against the freedom that made the Internet into the important open medium that it is today.

I've totally forgotten about this video until I found it again! It was early January this year when the weather was freaking cold outside and I was terribly infected by the flu virus at the same time all of us were stressed out with our classes. This was recorded after coming back from Pak Chong's Lotus. We all helped with the moving in and didn't need a mover NYC! Robert was showing around his new house in Aussie village and the rest were messing fooling around!

How I wish the weather would be more sunny and less gloomy. Been spending time transferring some files to the external hard drive. Deleted all the movies we've watched and that went for some space so my ram could breathe. Then I was all distracted into learning the Thai alphabets. It's been er..err...fun but torturing especially when the tongue doesn't obey to how you wished it would. Well, I can do this! I can! I can! LOL...sounds like some kind of a motivational motto or something heh!
Goodness I am very bad with time especially congratulating on occasions. So, to my cousin Norbert and his wife (my high school gf), Congratulations! I really hate it if I miss important family events where I see pictures of all my families standing alongside the bride & groom and I am always no where to be found! *&&^jeles@#$* Also to my elementary school best friend Ah Mei & Juan, Congrats! The weather is really strange. It was bright and sunny this morning but close to noon time, the sun was no longer up and smiling. Then it rained pitter-pattered accompanied by rumbling thunder! I don't watch animes but when I do it is only through the recommendation of friends. Hobbit is totally the opposite. Yet, I enjoy listening to anime's OSTs. I currently love an OST from a Japanese manga anime D.N Angel - True Light (Byakuya) by Shiyuchi Miyamoto and Michirube also by Shiyuchi Miyamoto. True Light with an English lyric is sung by Vic Mignogna. Freedert, Frozen Flower and Mitsumeru Saki Ni Wa are nice too! These music soothes your soul! Someone buy me the OST album...*_* Bah...I am going to zen myself up first! Too lazy to tutor...Maybe I should play the flower petals game again, sigh...
When did I last blog?? Guess insomnia aka midnight *Halloween invitations* is a good thing. Passed out around 9pm and jumped out of bed to brush at midnight *I can never enjoy a peaceful night rest without brushing* and tried to sleep again but my mind is just too active. Roz is dying to know what I did during the weekend and I said "check my blog" and I thought I was going to blog right after shower but I ended up watching DH series and and and didn't blog. And and and D wanted to see some pictures from a place I went today and I again I said "check my blog" but ain't nothing in here hahaha! Sorry! I was zonked zzz...
Last Friday was our last school day for the 2007-2008 school year and it ended much better than last year (for me). I attended the Kindergarten's graduation ceremony and got rid of a load of stress and worries. The involved little angels did their Chinese songs well. I thought they would never do the locomotion on the stage but they brats screamed out of they lungs instead!
I was done with grading and the PIA form before the clock stroke 12pm. So I was out of school pretty early and got myself another Shiseido hair treatment. At lunch time Hobbit purposely drove out of school and had lunch with me at Emporium. Can't miss the chicken yellow noodle in teriyaki sauce! You guys here in Bangkok should try it out. At least it quenched my crave for kon lau mian. It's really heavenly delicious until I don't even spend time to take a picture of the dish regardless the number of times I had it!
Saturday or Sabbath for me is always a special day because Hobbit and I get to enjoy church and food. The location for food splurge this time was at Majestic Grande's Dine@7. This was our second time here. *A bowl of asparagus soup did convince me well to dine here again* Well, the splurge was just not because it was Saturday and it's our Food day but it was Jj's birthday. Ohh, the first thing I looked for was the asparagus soup but guess it was a Saturday so it was carrot soup instead. But hey, carrot soup was good too! With the exquisite buffet, the celebration began...

I skipped so many dishes this time. Come to think of the food right now *especially wee hours like this*, might have just stuffed tummy with no regrets...<_> *hungry*

The cake Auntie D whisked me to hide until it almost fell while on my clumsy hands under the table! LOL! Lucky enough Zic has incredible hulk's hands which came to the rescue.

We attended another BKYO concert 5th subscription in Wattana church, Bangkok. Didn't manage to take photos since we were sitting at an odd angle which was totally picture-hopeless! It's pretty much the same like last year's.
Heck I'm sleey now. I can hear the ayam kampung crowing!
Thank God it's a holiday Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and the days to come...
