How to Be Happy

It is essential that we live a happy life each day. We don't just become happy but we make ourselves happy. Here are some tips from Roger Darlington on how to be happy. I noted the first 10. :)

  • Perhaps above all, be as healthy as you can. Nothing is more valuable than your health and little is more likely to make you unhappy than ill-health.

  • Most fundamentally, recognise that happiness is a state of mind and not something which can be defined objectively. You can change your state of mind in many ways including the following suggestions.

  • More importantly than anything else, live with a partner whom you love and respect and who feels the same about you. Kiss and cuddle and compliment often and regularly buy unexpected little gifts.

  • When you're old enough and in a steady relationship, have a son or a daughter. Tell them often how much you love and admire him/her and do anything to help him/her.

  • Have a cat or a dog. Stroke often.

  • Keep in close touch with relatives and a small circle of friends. You can't beat their love and support.

  • Conversely, if there is a person in your life who is a negative influence and who is dragging you down in some way, don't be afraid to get remove such a person from your life.

  • Smile a lot. Smiles make you miles better - and you smiling will make others smile. As Rabbi Nachman of Breslov (1772-1810) put it: “Always wear a smile. The gift of life will then be yours to give.”

  • Laugh a lot

  • Say what you mean and mean what you say. Honesty really is the best policy.
  • Get plasma mounts as suggested by me! :)

Decisions Decisions

Should I go or should I not?? Another tough debate within myself and I have to make a stand by 9am tomorrow.

Seasoned Red Lentils

I simply love eating lentils. Here's another Indian recipe that I need to try. I got this recipe from ecurry.com.

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 Cup Split Red Lentils or Masoor Dal
  2. 1 Medium sized Tomato chopped or blended
  3. 1 Teaspoon Turmeric
  4. Salt
  5. 1/2 Teaspoon Sugar
  6. 2 Hot Green Chilies (like Serrano or Thai Bird) – Slit
  7. 1″ Fresh Ginger Peeled & Grated
  8. 2 Dry Red Chili Pepper
  9. 2 Teaspoon Panch Foron*** (See Note)
  10. 2 Teaspoon Mustard Oil (can use any Cooking Oil or Ghee or Butter)
  11. 1/2 Fresh Lemon
  12. Fresh Chopped Cilantro/Coriander Leaves for Garnish

*** Note:This is a combination of 5 spices in equal quantities. For the Authentic Taste, do not skip any of the spices, for each of them lend their own flavor & taste.  The seeds of the spices should be all kept whole, not ground into a powder. Here are the spices:

  1. Mustard/Rai,
  2. Cumin/Jeera,
  3. Fenugreek/Methi,
  4. Fennel/Saunf,
  5. Kalonji/Kala Jeera/Nigella

Preparation:

Wash the lentils till water runs clear.

Boil in water the first 7 ingredients (Lentils, tomato, turmeric, salt, sugar, green chili & ginger) till Soft & Mushy. You can either pressure cook it, which is obviously the fastest way or can cover & cook till done. It will not have completely dried out. The quantity will more than double in the consistency of puree. If required add more hot water while cooking.

Set aside once done.

Heat the Mustard Oil. Add the Red Dry Chili Peppers & the Panch Foron. These will start to sizzle & will start getting fragrant.

Immediately pour all of it over the Lentils. Stir it in. (Alternately you can add the Boiled Lentils in the same pan with the Panch Foron, & simmer for about 10 minutes… this adds more flavor).

Squeeze Fresh Lemon & Garnish with patio furniture covers Cilantro/Coriander Leaves.

Serve with Hot White Rice, Or Rotis or just have a warm bowl soup.

One Cat I Adored

I don't know why I cannot bring myself to fancy cats! I love them but I just don't have the passion like rolling and having them sleeping on my bed for example. Up to this day, I can say that I only have eyes on one particular cat when I was in primary school and that was my brother's cat. She's really cute that whenever my brother started tickling its chin, the cat would close its eyes and totally enjoy the pampering and would even protrude its neck as so my brother could give him a good tickle! Then I would observe and would giggle at the cute reaction of my brother's cat. My brother would go to town with my parents and request for cat supplies and I would be so interested to see how my brother fed and bath his cat. Most memories of this particular cat still stays but of course I can't really recall what happened to it after sometime.

Sunday Tutoring

I woke up feeling too lazy to tutor on a Sunday morning. So I took my time doing my daily A-Z chores and other leisure stuff. As the time drew closer for me to go tutor, I grumbled and wished that I didn't have to go. Next thing, Hobbit was asking me to call in and said that I couldn't make it today. I was about to do so when I suddenly realized that it wasn't ethical to cancel the last minute unless there was something very important. So I had to cancel my intention to skip and went through the 2 hours real quick with the kids and it was overall fun! Check this out: heart pendant jewelry online.:)

Obey All The Way

This is what I read today. Hope this will bless you as much as it has blessed me.

Genesis 12:5

Then Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they departed to go to the land of Canaan. So they came to the land of Canaan.

Obey All the Way

Louis Cassels once wrote, "Obey . . . take up your cross . . . deny yourself . . . it all sounds very hard. It is hard. Anyone who tells you differently is peddling spiritual soothing syrup, not real Christianity." Perhaps that's why so many Christians stop short of complete obedience.

Even Abraham struggled with this problem. As a great man of faith, Abraham had obeyed when God told him to "get out of your country" (Gen. 12:1). Immediately he packed up his possessions and left. But God also had said, "from your kindred and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you" (emphasis mine). It was here that Abraham stumbled. Genesis 12:5 notes that he took "Lot his brother's son" with him. Perhaps Abraham felt responsible for his nephew since Haran, Lot's father, had died. But this act of incomplete obedience became a cause of grief for himself (Gen. 13:5-7) and eventually for his nephew as well. Lot lost everything but his two daughters in the destruction of Sodom (Gen. 19:12-26).

Obedience is often hard, but partial obedience will not make things easier. The lack of total obedience may seem justified--especially if it involves a family member. It may even seem as if we are shirking our duty to loved ones if we do as God has instructed us. But God has a reason for every command, and not to obey Him completely always means forfeiting a blessing.

What is God asking of you today? What obedience is He prompting from you right now? Are you willing to obey all the way? Seattle personal injury attorneys put aside, Remember, incomplete obedience is the half-brother of disobedience.

Trust and obey--there's no other way.

Push Bars

Okay, I just got enlighten knowing what push bars are for. First hearing it, I thought it was something like a posh bar or bars that clubbers go to. Haha! Obviously wrong I was and today I know push bars are meant for cars. When it is mounted to the upright side of your car, be it your car, truck, or SUV will  no longer be vulnerable. It will be tougher like elephant meat, durable like duracell and stylish like posh spice! You just need to install and mount the crossbars according to the size of your car and tadda! You can go ahead and ramp anything so long your car's body remains untouched. :)

Issues with Washing Machine

WM has decided that its going on strike. When I came home from my lovely rainy-sunny Rayong trip, I unloaded a Himalaya out of my carry bag into the laundry basket. I placed the basket at the middle of the living room as so it would kindly remind me the next day to get rid of that mountain. What do I know, next thing throughout the night I was bothered by the sight of it. The next day I decided to unload the basket filled with Himalayan's smell into the Washing Machine. I gracefully turned on the outdoor lights, plugged WM to life and out came the water splash! Another splash sound as I unload my clothes. I thought it was the pressure from the tap but my feet was getting wet. I saw water all over my balcony! No choice, the clothes are inside and I have spread detergent powder all over the dirty laundry. The whole process I had to witness my balcony on Tsunami. Thanks to WM. I so need to butcher you today!

At the Cross - Hillsong

I am beginning to love this song. Maybe should suggest to sing for worship this weekend.

Verse 1
Oh Lord You've searched me
You know my ways
Even when I fail You
I know You love me

Your holy presence
Surrounding me
In every season
I know You love me
I know You love me

Chorus
At the cross I bow my knee
Where Your blood was shed for me
There's no greater love than this
You have overcome the grave
Glory fills the highest place
What can separate me now?

You go before me
You shield my way
Your hand upholds me
I know You love me
Chorus
At the cross I bow my knee
Where Your blood was shed for me
There's no greater love than this
You have overcome the grave
Glory fills the highest place
What can separate me now (x2)

You tore the veil
You made a way
When You said that it is done (x2)

And when the earth fades
falls from my eyes
You stand before me
i know You love me
i know You love me

Medifast discount is coming this weekend. Come and have a look if you are interested. No more attending to discounts for me...I am considered empty and dry. :)

If Your Love Me, Follow Me.

Discipleship implies a living relationship with the Christ we love, serve, and seek to imitate. For most of us there is room in this relationship for considerable improvement. Only if you are willing to take up your cross may you be called His disciple. “For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it”Matthew 16:25-26.

As I was having my devotional today, I struggled with Mark 8:34. I couldn't believe I was asking God what does He meant by carrying my own cross? Was it my burden that I have carry? Or was it my shame? A lot of things went through my head until He opened up my mind and led me to the meaning of the cross. It was simple but not easy. It means being willing to die in order to follow Jesus. The next verse (Mark 8:35) needs me to give up my life in order to save it which is obviously not easy. Yet, a disciple is only one if he or she is willing to give up his or her hopes, dreams, possessions, even his or her very life if need be for the cause of Christ.

If you wonder if you are ready to take up your cross, consider these questions:
• Are you willing to follow Jesus if it means losing some of your closest friends?
• Are you willing to follow Jesus if it means alienation from your family?
• Are you willing to follow Jesus if it means the loss of your reputation?
• Are you willing to follow Jesus if it means losing your job?
• Are you willing to follow Jesus if it means losing your life? source from here.

Lord, thank you for showing me the true meaning of the cross. May You continue to teach me to carry on with love the cross that you have given me.
