Reality to fantasy
05.17.07 (3:50 pm)   [edit]

I was marking my students' scrapbook project based on their favorite hero/heroine this morning. As I intensly went through each of the scrapbook, I came across Chanun's scrapbook. Ah, his favorite hero is Walter Elias Disney! Never knew the background of Walter Disney before, I found the scrapbook to be an self educating if I take the opportunity to read it and so I did. Half way through, I was unconciously sobbing when I read the part how Walt Disney passed away and how his brother Roy Disney couldn't get over it until his own death. After Walter Disney's death, his brother Roy was the one who took over the 'Florida Project' which is now the well-known Walt Disney World.

After giving his dedication for Walt Disney World, Roy Disney then asked Lillian Disney (Walt's wife) to join him. As the orchestra played "When You Wish Upon a Star", she steeped up tot he podium accompanied by Mickey Mouse (one of Walt's first Disney character). He then said, "Lilly, you knew all of Walt's ideas and hopes as well as anybody; what would Walt think of it [Walt Disney World]?. " I think Walt would have approved," she replied. -- taken from my student's scraps.

I especially liked this one -- A plaque at the entrance that embodies the intended spirit of Disneyland by Walt Disney: to leave reality and enter fantasy.

Never have I known about this man before but through his work of arts. When I finally get to know him, I felt like he was the one who accompanied me throughout my childhood, whenever my parents were too busy to play, whenever the nanny needs some sort of entertainment for me, a distrupter, whenever I need something fun to read...he was there all this time without me knowing...the man behind the many Disney toons and books I have grown up with is really Walt Disney. Today as I read his life, his works, his passions, his fantasy...

I made a promise to myself:

"To once a while leave reality and enter fantasy."

He was a very great person i bet, because he shared his imaginations with everbody. When i go to disney-world snd when i have to leave i cry because it is like a "home" to me becaus ei have been there so many times. When i watch disney movies like Ariel is makes me wish i were there and i wish he was alive so i could know how everything was in the place it was in right now.

Considering I am the one and only...Disney's #1 Fan, I thought that he was outstanding! He thought to share his opinion of Walt Disney and the vision he had. I loved it!!!

Sprad the word! Disney has it's #1 fan named D1! Tell everyone you know and tell them to tell everyone they know and so on. Tell the employees at the themeparks and at the animation studios. Let the news be known by all! Nobody's love for Disney can beat D1's love for Disney!Disney's #1 fan is...D1!!!!

I totally agree with you, Carlos. He/she sounds like the true #1 fan of Disney. I, of course, know you two and D1 knows so much about Disney. Someone would have to be totally dumb to say that she is not the #1 fan! Like Carlos tried to say, SPREAD THE WORD!!! D1! D1! D1! D1!!!!
