I'm holding this picture You drew when you were four It was one we proudly hung On our refrigerator door I found it in the attic In your old dresser drawer By a pillow that we made you And a blanket that you had When we learned to chase the monsters From underneath your bed And I remember
How would you explain to someone that you actually don't want to let go but you have to? How do you tell them that you still love them so much but circumstances keeps you from being with them? How do you tell them that you don't mean to keep them waiting? How do you tell them your real feelings? How do you explain when there isn't any right for you to explain anymore? How do you tell them that you actually have million of things to say to them but you just can't express your feelings? How? How?
How I learned how to hold you when you cried I learned how to let you be strong Learned how to calm you in the dark Learned how to listen with my heart I learned how to watch you grow But how will I learn to let go
Maybe you can, or you can't. And you just have to learn to let go. You just have to...
And when I walk in your bedroom The memories that I keep Are bedtime stories And rocking you to sleep And as I held you You'd drift off to dream And I know it might sound crazy Now that you are grown But yesterday still feels Like the day we brought you home And I remember
Thus explains why I like this song. Learning to let go is not just a lesson for lovers the sorts, but also parents. When I witnessed how hard it was for some parents to entrust their kids going for their first field trips last Friday, I thought wow! So this is parents love?? Should I witness God's love, it would be unspeakable of how hard it is to see Him learn to let go due to our bad choices...
Well, whatever choices the other side made, I believe it's not always to their best favor, or it is, known or unknown. I know it is not easy to learn to let go of the feelings/things we don't want to let go, but if we could only understand what true love really is, then letting go shouldn't be a problem. Perhaps, it should be learned with an understanding smile and best wishes!
