My rock, my solid rock

Are you who you are?

Don’t tell me you have forgotten me

For I have once sat on you

And played around your waist

with my brothers and sister.

Remember that day

When mom and dad dated each other

You were their witness

Way beneath the moonlight sky

Every time when they said goodbye

You told me they ended with prayers.

The time came when dad was away

You comforted mom when she was having me

You wrap her with sweet memories

And gave her a shoulder to cry on

When dad was back, again you united them

On your very own lap.

When our home was filled with laughter and noise

You knew that I was born that day

When I learned to walk, you held me

Just in case I stumbled.

Did you know how happy I was?

When I first got acquainted with you?

During my final year in high school,

I came to you to seek advice

You told me to stay strong, firm and loyal

Just as you have always did

You taught me endurance and patience,

To always look up to heaven.

You said you will never leave me

Even though now that I have a boyfriend

I could sense that once,

You told mom and dad just the same.

How did you manage to be so loyal

When now my families no longer have time for you?

Today in class, my lecturer reminded me of you

I thought of the fun times and happy moments

That we once had together…

The family pictures including you

Shines everyday which keeps my spirit through

You, you my solid roc is near.

I can feel it, I can smell it

Where are you, my beloved rock?

Can’t you see every teardrops shed

Who is it for, if it is not for you?

I miss you, I need you

Are you who you are?

Please answer me…

Unconsciously I heard your voice

Stay calm Amy, just remember my promises

Even if you had left me a thousand years,

I am who I am and will always be

Your rock of salvation, your handsome Prince

And listen carefully now – I love you just the same.

I wrote this poem in class way back during college years. We were to produce something creative for 30 minutes and this was what I managed to come up with. Nothing great of course...but when I found it again, it gives me a sense of tinsel accomplishment far beyond compared to my 30 mins. creative ability today. I  personally enjoyed the innocent voice. So in turn of celebrating another birthday tomorrow, this is my gift from myself to myself! God is good...

I've been too overwhelmed with work and a holiday getaway is just what is needed right now! I will be away for the weekend hoping to bond with nature. Until then, *throws designer jewelry* keep smiling...
