When we were in Krabi, we were informed by locals that one can't claim that he/she has been to Krabi if they have not set foot on Phi Phi island. The normal cost for this trip if you choose to take the speed boat is about 1200B. However, with good budgeting and planning, it can be more or less about 900B-1000B per pax.
Phi Phi (not Fee Fee but Pee Pee) island is considered one of the most beautiful island in the world. It's approximately 50 minutes away from Phuket by speedboats. The island consist of 2 small islands--Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh. Since you readers are more interested in pictures, it's then wiser to photo-blog this post.
Departure spot from Ao Nang to Phi Phi.
It's a one day tour. So the wises choice is to take a speed boat. Nothing beats a speed boat unless you could afford a helicopter! Wind on your face and three throating engines rocketing you through...motorbike is no longer fun!
Once a beautiful island and attraction, now merely an island due to the Tsunami hit.
First snorkeling spot. We snorkeled for 30 mins. Huge corals, not many variety of fish. I forgot most of the names of the islands we visited. Too excited!
Here comes my favorite stop of all...
Ma Ya Bay! Famed for its cameo in The Beach!
The entrance leading to Loh Sa Ma Bay. Leave your flip flops or whatever sandals in the boat in order to fully enjoy the white sand and coral rock massage in this island. Hobbit and I spent so much time exploring the tropical jungle that we had no chance to swim here. Next time must swim and do at least 10 minutes sun bathing. I tell you...this island is just so blessed with magical beauty!
This place didn't seem like it was next to the beach except for the hinting white sand. Walk straight and you will reach here...
Beware! it's super hard to walk here because of the pointy rocks, shells and scattered corals. We had to curl or curved our feet while approaching the little opening that led to another part of the island.
Can you see the hole/opening?
Go through that opening and this is the first thing you see. Another spot for snorkeling.
Ah! Colorful crabs...
Back to the bay. Hate it...peak season...hence the crowd!
The two well-known rock pillar that visitors would not miss as their picture background. I was bored and missing Krabi last Thursday evening that I sat and painted this pillar without any human in it. At least I can see how Ma Ya looks like when it is only peace and quiet.
Eh...I forgot the long boat resting on the left pillar...
There...added the long boat resting under the pillar. You can hardly see it here..*_*
Another beautiful spot surrounded by the crocker--Pi-Leh Bay
Opposite the above picture.
Viking Cave. Tourist used to stop and visit this cave 10 years ago. Now, it's strictly protected because of its expensive bird's nests.
The Viking's keepers. Then we stopped at another spot for snorkeling. Forgot the name of this spot but it's beautiful and less crowded. We were warned of the corals. Before this spot, one of our buddies suffered cuts on his sole and toes due to the sharp corals. This time...it got me! I was trying to control my feet but accidentally kicked on a huge coral! It felt like slight scratches when under water and painless...but after the sea water, I could feel the stinging pain.
Our guide was really helpful and was quick to provide help. Look at the three cuts, two deep ones! Thank God for Mr Orange! Oh, Mr Orange (as we named after his orange shirt) is one of the Tsunami survivor. He has huge scar on his lap due to his escape from the disaster!
Finally a lunch stop at Phi Phi Don. I thought it was just a normal packed lunch but to our surprise it was served a la carte and it was inclusive of the whole day trip! From spaghetti to sweet and sour fish to stir fried vegetables and fruits. Now this is what I call worth-the-money!
Our group enjoyed the lunch!
Since it was the first day of Songkran, it was hard to escape from being wet and powdered. Hobbit and I were terrified of it fearing that our cameras might get wet! We only managed to explore part of Phi Phi Don since it's hard to walk around with all the splashing that went on.
Poor guys!
Part of Phi Phi still under construction after the flood.
Beautiful resorts at reasonable prices (except for peak seasons), ATM kiosks, bars, open market, massage parlor, bakery, etc! Name it...All you need in the island are sold/served here.
Things are highly overpriced in this island. This Wall's orange flavored Popsicle is 45B while the normal price is just 12B. Hobbit wanted the cone cornetto but one cone cost 65B. This amount can already pay for a mango sticky rice ice cream at Swensen's!
After we left Phi Phi Don, we were shooed off in the middle of the sea for a last snorkel and this time fishes are abandon but due to my cuts, I skipped and offered to take pictures of Hobbit. That pose he did in the picture was his way of baiting me into the water! Eleh...

After a day of on and off the water, we finally had a relaxing stop at Bamboo island. More trees here...Pine trees and other sea side plants that welcomed the soothing breeze. You either just sit on the sand and enjoy the scenery or lay down your muscles on the smooth soft carpet of white sand while reading a book or rest your tired eyes and listen to the prodigy elements around you...
Finally, we were escorted to land again. Well, walking back to our bungalow is another story. The Songkran celebration was wild and loud that it forced us to lock and cool ourselves at Pizza Company. Lots and lots of splashing I tell you... Until then...See if time permits for Krabi #4! *_*
